Today's poem

I thought Modernism for the first time after reading Faustin Charles' poem Landscape and seeing the photography exhibition of Yasuhiro Ishimoto's work. The poem praises Charles' island Trinidad and Tobago and Ishimoto shot Katsura Imperial Villa ( https://bit.ly/33hu8OH ) from the viewpoint of Modernism. Ishimoto's work was created with sensations and super-prominent skill at that time. His multi-exposure photos impressed me so much and others evoked Ray K. Metzker ( https://bit.ly/2V8qZMI ). Sensations and highest skill - poetry needs, too.

Viv by Faustin Charles

Like the sun rising and setting
Like the thunderous roar of a bull rhino
Like the sleek, quick grace of a gazelle,
The player springs into the eye
And lights the world with fires
Of a million dreams, a million aspirations.
The batsman-hero climbs the skies,
Strikes the earth-ball for six
And the landscape rolls with the ecstasy of the magic play.

Through the covers, the warrior thrusts a majestic cut
Lighting the day with runs
As bodies reel and tumble,
Hands clap, eyes water
And hearts move inside out.

The volcano erupts!
Blows the game apart.
